The House Captains at St Dominic Savio are chosen through a democratic process, reflecting our commitment to British Values and the importance of student voice. Representing the four houses of St George, St David, St Andrew, and St Patrick, the House Captains play a vital role in leading and inspiring their peers.
House Captains are responsible for motivating their house members to earn house points through Class Dojo, with each house striving to win the prestigious House Cup at the end of every term. They also lead assemblies for their respective houses on their saint’s day, celebrating the virtues and history of the patron saint.
During Sports Day, the House Captains take charge of rallying their house, guiding everyone to earn points through teamwork and enthusiasm. The children are proud to wear their house-coloured t-shirts, proudly displaying their team spirit.
House Captains develop essential leadership skills, acting as role models for younger pupils and encouraging them to earn house points by following our Golden Rules and living out our school motto: “Work hard, be kind.” They promote a sense of community and school pride, fostering an atmosphere of collaboration and respect.
"Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant." (Matthew 20:26)
The House Captains at St Dominic Savio embody this spirit of servant leadership, always striving to serve and uplift those around them.
Sports Leaders
Our Sports Leaders are selected from Year 6 students who have shown a strong passion for sports and have actively participated in a range of sports and enrichment activities throughout their time at school. These students are chosen for their dedication, enthusiasm, and ability to inspire others to engage in physical activity.
The Sports Leaders attend specific training sessions designed to develop their leadership and coaching skills. They take on a variety of roles, including leading a lunch club where they engage younger children in sport, helping them develop key skills and fostering a love for physical activity.
In addition to running the lunch club, our Sports Leaders also take on leadership roles during matches and tournaments. They help to organise and lead teams, promoting teamwork, good sportsmanship, and a competitive yet friendly spirit. By guiding their peers, the Sports Leaders ensure that all children have the opportunity to participate, whether they are playing for fun or striving to win.
Through their role, the Sports Leaders not only inspire their fellow students to stay active but also develop important leadership and organisational skills that will benefit them both inside and outside of school. They truly embody the values of teamwork and commitment, helping to create an inclusive sports culture at St Dominic Savio.
