Home Learning - Doodle

At St Dominic Savio Catholic Primary School, we use Doodle Learning — including DoodleMaths and DoodleEnglish — to support home learning in Years 1–6.

  • Each child has a personalised home-learning target, based on their Doodle baseline assessment.

  • Pupils in Key Stage 1 (Years 1–2) are asked to complete 15 minutes each of maths and English per week.

  • Pupils in Key Stage 2 (Years 3–6) are asked to complete 20 minutes each of maths and English per week.

  • This learning is most effective when carried out little and often across the week.

How parents can stay involved

Parents are encouraged to take an active role in supporting Doodle Learning at home.

With the DoodleConnect parent app, you can:

  • link your account to your child’s school account

  • track their progress and see whether they are on track with their weekly targets

  • receive notifications about achievements such as stars earned and badges unlocked

  • celebrate success and encourage positive learning habits

Why we use Doodle Learning

Doodle Learning supports our approach to home-school partnership by:

  • giving every child a fully personalised programme, tailored to their individual strengths and gaps

  • building confidence through a design that enables children to achieve regular success

  • providing interactive, curriculum-aligned content for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2

  • encouraging independent, self-motivated learning in a structure children enjoy

  • offering accessible learning anywhere, on a range of devices

The combination of home engagement and adaptive learning means children can make strong, consistent progress.

How Parents can help at home

  • Encourage Doodle use throughout the week, rather than in one long session

  • Take a moment to share and celebrate their achievements

  • Support the idea of small steps often, which research shows is the most effective way to learn

  • Keep the experience positive and motivating

  • Contact school if you need any help with logging in or using the app

We are proud to use Doodle Learning at St Dominic Savio to strengthen home learning and help all children grow in confidence and knowledge in both maths and English.
